On the heels of its two Oscar wins, “Precious” debuted at No. 1 this week on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, and at No. 3 on the rental chart. The film about an illiterate Harlem teen who turns her life around earned Academy Awards for best screenplay (Geoffrey Fletcher) and best supporting actress (Mo’Nique). And ironically or not, Precious’ star Gabourey Sidibe’s weight has been a #1 topic on urban blogs and beyond. Howard Stern and Robin Quivers were the first to publicly bash Gabourey over her weight, under the guise of warning her about her health. Then Jamie Foxx took it back to middle school when he called Gabourey ‘Notorious Precious’ and did a whole bit on how Gabourey would be perfect for the role of Notorious B.I.G in the next Bad Boy film.
