American Idol Contestant with a Message
While American Idol’s auditions are hilairous to say the least there was one older gentleman out of Atlanta, Ga. that turned down the lights and ended the auditions in Atlanta with a message. Mr. Larry Platt, 62, appears to have been listening to the popular music stations lately. He probably figured if they can get away with the foolishness he’s heard, then he too can get a record deal. And if for no other reason, for the message his song sends to the young brothers out there to “Get Your Pants Off the Ground.” Okay, so there’s some humor to the story and he’s looking like a rapper and that’s all funny. But, the other side of the story is quite fascinating. Mr. Platt is a civil rights activist that had been nicknamed by the late great civil rights leader and politician Rev. Hosea Williams. He nicknamed him General Larry Platt because of his diligent work with the community. According to Yahoo! Blogs the General remains a community activist to this day, working with the “United Youth Adult Conference (a volunteer organization set up to find missing children in the Atlanta area) and fighting public foreclosure.” The man is so “diligent” that Atlanta gave him Larry Platt day.
